My experience with HasGeek community

Submitted Dec 16, 2020

When I moved to Bangalore a few years ago, I had a lot of cravings about community engagement. I wanted to engage with more people, listen to a lot more, differing and even opposing ideas, form my own values. This would not have been possible without letting knowledge, compassion and warmth flow freely. These were the core beliefs imbibed by the members of HasGeek and also the amazing community that they have built over time. And while volunteering for them, I got so impressed by the work they do that I even joined HasGeek to work for them! While Kiran and Zainab were great thinkers and leaders, Shreyas Kutty, Sandy, Karthik, Jyotsana, MAK all were amazing colleagues you can only wish for most of the times.

The “geek” aspect of HasGeek enables them to take the multi-disciplinary approach that they have taken towards this aspect of doing good to the community. Be it discussions on cutting edge technology, implications of design in real life, a healthy approach to life, impact of policies and governance on the citizens, issues of privacy and equality in the tech industry - you will find HasGeek not only engaging but leading from the front.

If I have to summarize my experience with them in one line, it would be this - HasGeek has helped, and continues to help, shape many aspects of the person I am, both personally and professionally.
