Frontend engineering with ReactJS - Workshop

This workshop will focus on frontend engineering using ReactJS, the view library from Facebook. We will start of by discussing the key ideas behind React. Then we will move on to the basics of React, why we would want to use React, React API and then build a fun little webapp using react.

Outline

With this workshop, the intention is to introduce the audience to the cutting edge of technology in frontend engineering. It would appear that every day there’s a new JavaScript library coming out, but React is here to stay. So it makes sense to be knowledgeable in it. It was developed by the brilliant engineers over at Facebook with a lot of community involvement. Over the course of the workshop we will go over the following:

  • What is Frontend Engineering?
  • Why do we need React?
  • What is React?
  • Setup development Environment
  • React essential Ideas
  • React API
  • Build the App

Requirements

JavaScript Knowledge.
Unix based PC.

Speaker bio

Peter is a full stack developer @ Multunus. Having discovered React during the company’s 20% time, he’s smitten by the awesomeness that is React. He has built a production ready React Native app and has done consulting in the area. He is an ardent OSS enthusiast.
