Folks, Tripti Jain - lawyer and researcher at the Internet Democracy Project (IDP) - participated in the session and wrote up a short summary. Here goes:
Hasgeek facilitated an interactive session with Srikanth Rajagopalan, CEO at Perfios Account Aggregator Services, on Tuesday, 25 August.
The session was divided into two halves. In the first half, Srikanth presented the Account Aggregator (AA) framework notified by the RBI. In the second half, he expressed his early thoughts on the Non Personal Data (NPD) report.
After the presentation, Srikanth opened the floor to answer various questions and concerns of the participants with respect to AAs. Some of the questions included:
1. How is data aggregated by the Account Aggregators (AAs)?
2. To what extent do data subjects have autonomy?
He responded with explaining the flow of data from the user to the aggregator to the financial institutions and how consent is obtained from the data subject. When questioned about the method used by AAs to maintain quality of data, he explained that there are several metrics to check quality of data, such as resolution and fulfillment metrics. However, AAs have no idea about actual quality because they are data blind. Lastly, when it was inquired how successful has been the current AA infrastructure in enabling the marginalised to seek financial credit, he acknowledged that it is a tool which is still in its development stage and for it to be available to all, there are many hurdles which are to be overcome. However, it’s one of his goals that one day this tool enables the real financial inclusion that it claims to.
