Transforming Industrial Safety with Vision AI

Submitted Sep 25, 2025

Session Overview:

Workplace accidents often occur not because risks are unknown, but because they aren’t detected in time. Traditional safety checks rely on manual monitoring, audits, or delayed reporting leaving workers exposed to hazards during critical moments. Manual safety checks are also difficult to scale; as the number of sites and cameras grows, each new camera often requires customized safety checks, increasing operational costs. Additionally, these lead to workplace compliance violations, which may attract penalties and higher safety management expenses.

This session will demonstrate how edge-deployed vision AI models can transform safety in industrial and construction settings. By analyzing video streams in real time, these systems detect violations such as missing protective gear, unsafe proximity to machinery, or traffic hazards and immediately alert safety supervisors. Alerts can be fed into dashboards and reporting pipelines to track compliance and generate actionable insights. Edge deployment ensures reliable operation even at remote sites with limited bandwidth, allowing safety officers to monitor large areas without leaving their chairs.

Key Takeaways:

  • Practical insights into applying computer vision for real-time worker protection and safety compliance in industrial settings.
  • Techniques for converting raw model inferences into actionable insights that supervisors and site managers can immediately act upon.
  • Learning how to implement edge-based vision systems in a practical way, so teams can adapt the approach to their specific challenges.

Target Audience:

  • AI enthusiasts interested in real world application of computer vision
  • Practitioners interested in deploying AI at edge
  • Safety and compliance industrial teams seeking proactive monitoring tools
