Objective

To understand the 'big' picture and how the intersection of technology innovation, upcoming verticals and business landscape is driving the growth of Big Data ecosystem.

Description

Big Data has become popular buzzword in recent times. There is lot of hype as with the case with any emerging and disrupting technology. There are a lot of nascent technologies and some are maturing fast to have widespread adoption. Big data is applicable to wide variety of industries and becoming even more relevant with the advent of cloud, broadband and social media. In this session I will talk about how the innovation in Technology and new market opportunities are fueling the growth of Big Data movement. I will talk about what different industry players address what part of the bigger puzzle and how they all fit together to form a complementary and thriving ecosystem.

Speaker bio

Sharad heads the Technology platform group at InMobi where he leads the development of hadoop and big data platforms. He is a Apache Hadoop committer, PMC member and is active in hadoop community for over 4 years. He has been involved with Hadoop 2.0 since it was in concept stage. He is the author of YARN core runtime libraries and Map-Reduce Application Master. He is also Apache Avro committer and worked on Avro during its early days. Prior to joining InMobi Sharad was Architect at Yahoo. Earlier he worked on search platforms and several middleware technologies at AOL and Oracle. Sharad holds BTech from IIT Delhi.
