DESCRIPTION:My idea is present my expriences while exploring the NFC platf
orm for a CS project I took up at college. The applications of NFC reader
capabilities present on a phone\, as well as the beaming and auto-pairing
functionalities. \n\nI will also be showing how to take advantage of the n
ew HFC HCE Api to implement a bi directional data transfer channel between
two phones that are tapped onto each other.\nAlthough NFC is a unidirecti
onal implementation where the reader reads the ID of a card\, HCE is a sof
tware based implementation and hence can be hacked around to emulate a 2-w
ay channel. Such a channel will be half-duplex and not true duplex\, but i
n essence you can have 2-way communication between two phones.\nNFC\, bein
g a low powered hardware\, means speeds are in the range of 5kbps\, but th
at is enough for small chunks of data. The best part is there is no need o
f pairing. Just the phones must be tapped onto each other\, i.e. their bac
ks touching each other as long as the communication takes place\, and ever
ything will be taken care automatically by the apps.\n\n### Speaker bio\n\
nCurrently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Electrical and Electronics Engi
neering at Delhi Technological University\, while also working at Cube26 a
s an Android Framework Engineer.\nI have been a Developer and Device Maint
ainer at CyanogenMod and AOKP\, making the latest Android source work on S
ony Xperia devices\, while adding awesome usability features that make use
rs fall in love. A couple of features I have written have also made their
way into Google's Android Open Source Project\, and can be found in Kitkat
and Android L. \nI have been a Open Source community partner with Sony Mo
bile for the last two years\, which basically means I get the latest Xperi
as to hack around with as soon as they are launched. \nAt Cube26\, I have
been part of the team that made many contextually smart UI/UX enhacements
for the Micromax Canvas A290\, A310\, A315 series of phones. \nI am also a
 n open source enthusiast with contributions to Linux\, GNOME\, Arduino\, A
ndroid and other open source projects.\nI was invited as a speaker at Mobi
le Developer Summit 2014 hosted by Saltmarch Media.\n

day life as I believe that technology empowers a human to lead a quality
life.\nAmongst a few apps developed\, I would like to highlight that I hav
e developed a Smartwatch app which helps women to communicate about their
situations to their dear ones\njust by a voice command.\nI firmly believe
that imparting knowledge helps a person to gain more. I have a passion for
teaching and training people and have received \ngreat response in this r

DESCRIPTION:When building an application\, I was asked to crop the user im
ages to a circular mask. I did find multiple methods online\, but they had
different limitations\; Some required multiple processing of Bitmaps\, ot
hers created new Bitmap objects\, etc.\n\nSo I did some research\, and imp
lemented a library which does this in the most optimal way possible. The e
nd results are very promising - ZERO overdraw\, and NO extra memory usage
required to perform the effects.\n\nOkulus can do this for you without bre

Soft shadows\n* Lots more\n\nI will be covering how to use okulus to appl

DESCRIPTION:Mobile deep linking is equivalent to specific URLs on the inte
rnet for the mobile apps via URIs (uniform resource identifiers). Just ima
gine directly opening friends’ profile page on your Android app for FB o
r opening a product page on Amazon app. As most of our important online ac
tivities are getting appified the proliferation of mobile deep linking is
 quite natural (Taken from: http://adiquity.com/mobile-deep-linking-a-neces
sity-for-mobile-marketers/)\n\nDeep linking the content within your app is
one sure shot way for better user interaction\, enagagment and app discov
erability. In this talk I wish to cover the various ways for enabling deep
links within Android apps (Android deep links\, facebook app links\, app
urls\, deferred deep links etc..)\, deep linking strategy and how this can
improve your app score for better user engagement.\n\n### Speaker bio\n\n

DESCRIPTION:In today’s day and age\, almost everything is real-time. “
Instant” is the new mantra. And one cannot imagine what would it be to n
ot have an “instant” messaging app. \n\nBuilding and scaling for more
than 35 million users is not a piece of cake. Most startups in India have
never seen this kind of scale before.\nIndia also has its own set of uniqu
e challenges for the mobile app industry in terms of:\nNetwork: Data is no
t only expensive and unreliable in terms of network connections\, the beha
vior and priorities of Indian users are also quite different.\nDevice: Low
end smartphones dominate the market today. Optimizing for memory\, storag
e and battery is just as important as building new features.\n\nWe’ve be
en juggling these challenges\, tackling them and learning along the way fo
r Hike Messenger. Let’s hear how one can optimize the communication laye
r for the app to become one of the fastest and most reliable messaging app
s in India.\n\nIn this talk\, I will talk about \n\n- how we use the MQTT
protocol - with varying QOS for transmitting different data to servers\, \
n- how small tweaks in the app can lead to greater app performance.\n\n###
Speaker bio\n\nParesh is working on all-things-Android at Hike Messenger
 - joined the incredible team a month back.\nIn his earlier avatar he built
an Android SDK to enable any app become a mini-social network.\n\nWhile w
orking at Adobe\, he filed 6 patents - which he thinks has become a necess
ary evil.\nWhen he is not coding\, he prefers to play Squash and Badminton
  (not on computer).\n\nhttps://www.linkedin.com/in/goelparesh\n

DESCRIPTION:Android runs in over 40\,000 different devices. Not all device
s have the same power as Nexus 6 or HTC One. UI performance is more import
ant for an app to be popular. Most of the times reducing the View hierarch
y can give performance wins. But there are many more things that can help
the UI performance.\n\nCan we split each row in a ListView into multiple r
ows to achieve faster binding time? Wouldn’t it be cool if we can use sp
rites in Android just like we do in CSS? Oh wait\, could it give performan
ce win? TextViews have text layouts which are re-created every time we scr
oll. Can we cache them for performance wins? App gets GC-ed and UI stutter
 s. Is there a way to postpone GC? My app has a lot of icons. Is there a wa
y to reduce the numbers of icons I ship in the APK? This talk will provide
answers for more questions like these.\n\n### Speaker bio\n\nI work at Fa
cebook on their Android app. As a UI Engineer\, my job is to create re-usa
ble UI components that can be used by product engineers. Earlier I worked
at Mozilla as a front-end engineer on the Firefox for Android app. I blog
at http://sriramramani.wordpress.com/ on nice UI techniques. I created the
tool Droid Inspector (http://www.sriramramani.com/droidinspector) to debu
g UI issues in a 3D view. In my earlier life I graduated from Carnegie Mel
lon University with a Masters in HCI.\n

DESCRIPTION:Lot of developers & organizations run into issues when they st
art releasing updates for their apps. This talk will open them to the wor
ld of continuous integration\, test automation\, how to start & benefits.\
n\nThe CI & Test Automation framework is one which we have found increasin
gly useful within our organization as there are constant updates to the ap
ps based on customer requirements and the developer was loosing focus on h
is primary job - development. This completely Open Source based framework\
, allows the developer to concentrate on development and leave the orchest
ration of other tasks to a well defined process.\n\nThe demos will show ca
se a continuous integration tool being used to control the build/test/prov
ision/deploy phases of a mobile app\, along with an appropriate reporting
framework. It will also cover behavior driven testing/development and its
benefits.\n\n### Speaker bio\n\nI am a software engineer with close to 12
years of IT experience. I started off as a backend developer working on C+
+/Unix & Oracle. Over the years I made my way to the middleware area and S
OA (using Java) and for the past 1.5 years I am working on Mobile Solution
Architecting. My interests are in automation\, UX\, security testing and
solution architecting.\n\nI currently work with Torry Harris Business Solu

DESCRIPTION:By "Android Development" we refer to making Apps on the androi
d stack using APIs defined to us by Google. But we overlook that the Andro
id Operating System itself is open source and can be changed to our liking
and needs.\nEspecially with Android penetrating the embedded market like
Smart TVs\, Wearables\, Home appliances and Cars\, we face the need to mod
ify the core Android stack to suit various environments and hardware.\n\nW
e will explore how the UI and looks can be changed. How the UX can be impr
oved (including various usability tweaks to lockscreen\, navbar\, notifica
tion drawer\, etc frequently used parts of the GUI shell).\nFinally we wil
l also explore how some deeper changes like application permission control
\, battery life and performance enhancements can be done.\n\nI will give a
complete walkthrough right from downloading the Android source code\, to
compiling it\, to a tour through the build setup\, and each kind of modifi
cation mentioned above shall be explained with simple examples using real
code\, and live demonstration of the modification.\n\n### Speaker bio\n\nC

DESCRIPTION:Designing for the user experience has a lot more to it than ma
king\na product usable. Usability allows people to easily accomplish \nthe
ir goals.\nAll designers say simplicity is important\, but what does it re
ally \nmean to make something simple? Most of the time we think it \nmeans
less\, that by removing stuff we achieve simplicity. We think \nby cuttin
g text into half or by using bullets instead of paragraphs \nit becomes mo
re clear. But simple doesn’t mean ‘less’. A better \ndefinition woul
d be ‘just enough’.\n\nIn this\, we will talk about:\n• User friendl
iness and usability\nUser-experience is not like usability - it is about \
nfeelings. The aim here is to create happiness. You want \npeople to feel
happy before\, during and after they have \nused your product\nA good desi
gn is pleasurable\, thoughtfully crafted\, \nmakes you happy\, and gets yo
u immersed.\n\n• When more is less\nSimplicity is really about comprehen
sion and clarity \nof purpose\, can we design such that people instantly \
nunderstand what’s going on and make a confident \ndecision about what t
o do next? To practically achieve \nsimplicity we can stick to a single co
re idea\, improve \nclarity over time\, and use consistency to help users
\nachieve efficiency. In this way more can be less by \nadding the appropr
iate details at the appropriate time \nthe entire process comes to seem si
mple to the people \nusing it.\n\n### Speaker bio\n\nShreyas is a passiona

it works on top of Cordova\, and how it solves the performance issue. We'
