Droidcon India

Droidcon's first Indian edition

Droidcon is India’s first national Android conference and is a part of the worldwide Droidcon series of events. This is a technical conference, for developers by developers.

Sessions are for 45 minutes each (30 speaking, 5 Q&A, 10 transition). We will have three parallel tracks over two days, with 8 sessions per track per day. Workshop sessions are 60 minutes each (50 speaking, 10 minutes for transition between rooms).

We recommend you illustrate your sessions with demos of your own code and applications. Please refrain from making a pitch without explaining how it works, as your primary audience will be developers.

Sessions will be ranked by community voting and selected by a program committee with representation from the local community and the international Droidcon events. Confirmed speakers get free tickets to the event. Anyone who proposes to speak but isn’t confirmed will still get early bird pricing. If you’ve proposed to speak, there’s no need to rush to buy a ticket. We’ll be in touch with you.

Participants may reserve their tickets from http://droidcon.doattend.com.

The event will have three parallel tracks. The list below will be consolidated down to three by the program committee.

Agile development and Lifecycle Management of Android apps

Submitted Oct 24, 2011

Discuss typical Android app development scenarios in an enterprise. Demonstrate Eclipse plugins that make the development process Agile and facilitate lifecycle management for Android apps.

Outline

Eclipse is by far the most popular IDE for Android development. Yet, in an enterprise where development is done in a geographically distributed team, for multiple device configurations, Eclipse alone isn’t sufficient. Moreover, Android apps are being developed at the enterprise level and managing them through their lifecycle is no longer a trivial task. This talks showcases Eclipse plugins, such as Rational Team Concert, that give your Android development all that it needs - source control management, project management and planning, work item tracking and defect management, build management, etc. throughout the lifecycle of the application. It also showcases tools such as Rational Rhapsody that help in the modeling of Android applications.

Speaker bio

I am a software engineer at IBM and a committer in the Eclipse Java Development Tools project. I have been a keen follower of Android since past couple of years and have also spoken about Android development using Eclipse at various venues, such as EclipseCon Europe 2010. I am also an Eclipse evangelist and founded the Eclipse Campus program.
