Abstract

Demonstrate PhoneGap and Eclipse PhoneGap plugin for developing HTML5 based Android apps.

Outline

This talks showcases the use of Phonegap to build mobile applications for Android and other platforms. The talk demonstrates creating a Phonegap android project on Eclipse, using Phonegap APIs to access Android specific functionality from HTML5 + Javascript code. It also showcases how to create an hybrid Android application, which has both native and web widgets.

Speaker bio

I am a software engineer at IBM and a committer in the Eclipse Java Development Tools project. I have been a keen follower of Android since past couple of years and have also spoken about Android development using Eclipse at various venues, such as EclipseCon Europe 2010. I am also an Eclipse evangelist and founded the Eclipse Campus program.
