TLDR:
Kailash Nadh presents a concept for a decentralized, open, machine-readable index approach to WWW resource discovery. This aims to address the issue of declining search quality with contemporary internet search behemoths, whose main focus is revenue rather than quality. Realizing the saturation of WWW with low-quality content, Nadh proposes Decentralized Open Indexes for Discovery (DOID) aiming at the free exchange of digital artifacts. DOID contains structured, machine-readable indexes with URL to resources and basic metadata, created and maintained by individuals or communities. Proposed distribution of such indexes would be via BitTorrent or similar, and clients that consume these indexes would provide users with the search and discovery features. Nadh aims to develop v0.0.1 technical spec for DOID, create a prototype index from Wikipedia, and build a prototype web app for it.
