Google Summer Of Code - A Mentor's Prespective

An important part of a GSoC application is its effictiveness to impress the organization and the mentors who are supposed to review. This sessions will provide a behind the doors look of how to best go about creating an effective propsal and impress the socks off of the org. Coming from a past mentor, you will get to know what organizations look for in their studdents.

Outline

The audience will be taken through the step by step procedure of applying for the next season of GSoC with tips on how to perform each step effectively. Tips on interacting with the organization and what can earn you browny points will be provided. A breakdown of the selection procedure will be given from the perspective of the organization and weightage of each aspect of the applicant’s profile will be summarized. Finally, the most important aspect - the proposal, what makes a good proposal, when to submit one and how to make yours effective.

Mentor, Google Summer Of Code, 2016 with Systers. Former Software Engineering Intern at Google India. Won various hackathons around the country and speaker at local/national events promoting programming culture. Lead member of Women Who Code and Women Techmakers Delhi. Former Android Instructor at Coding Blocks.
