DESCRIPTION:### About the talk\nAs the world braces for the largest electi
on year with over 64 nations heading to the polls\, the influence of artif
icial intelligence looms large\, poised to make a profound impact. From th
e proliferation of misinformation to the emergence of deepfakes and the ex
ploration of positive use cases\, the landscape of political discourse is
undergoing a seismic shift. \n\nIn this session\, Gautham Koorma and Romit
Barua will discuss the following:\n1. A classical physics based forensic
technique for detecting manipulation in images\n2. The approaches from the
ir [paper on detecting cloned voices](https://arxiv.org/abs/2307.07683) an
d issues related to generalization of ML models for deepfake detection on
“in the wild” media\n3. A modern deep learning based technique for det
ecting fake videos\n\n*Have questions for the speakers? [Leave a comment](
 https://hasgeek.com/anthillinside/detecting-deepfakes/comments).*\n\n### A
 bout the speakers\n[Gautham Koorma](https://www.linkedin.com/in/gauthamsk/
) is a Machine Learning Engineer and Researcher working on deep learning m
odels for audio signal processing and computer vision. He has recently gra
duated with a Master's in Information Science from UC Berkeley\, specializ
 ing in machine learning\, digital forensics\, policy\, product management\
 , and entrepreneurship.\n\n[Romit Barua](https://www.linkedin.com/in/romit
-barua-5aa71693/) is a Machine Learning Researcher and has previously work
ed as Head of Investment Control at Texas Exchange Bank and Risk Analyst a
t Q Investments. He has also recently graduated with a Master's in Managem
ent Information Systems from UC Berkeley\, specializing in Data Science. H
is research at UC Berkeley focused on audio deepfake detection.\n\n[Rumanu
](https://www.linkedin.com/in/rumanu-bhardwaj/) will be moderating the tal
 k. She is a Machine Learning Researcher who has spent her weekends for the
past five years at tech meetups and conferences\, her interest peaking at
the intersection of adtech and data privacy preservation. She toys around
with humor(ous?) NLP usecases when not hitting comedy open mics to be a b
etter tech speaker.\n\n### RSVP and venue\nThis session will be held onlin
e on the 28nd of March from 8 pm - 9 pm. You can RSVP to participate via Z
oom or watch the livestream on YouTube.\n\n### About the Deepfakes series\
nThis session is part of a series on Deepfake technologies which will expl
ore socio-political\, technical\, and governance aspects of the technology
. \n\n### About Anthill Inside\nAnthill Inside is a community where topics
in AI and Deep Learning such as tools and technologies\, methodologies an
d strategies for incorporating AI and Deep Learning into various applicati
ons and businesses\, and AI engineering are discussed. Furthermore\, Anthi
ll Inside places a strong emphasis on exploring and addressing ethical con
cerns\, privacy\, and the issue of bias both in practice and within AI pro
ducts.\n\n### How you can contribute to Anthill Inside\n1. Post a [talk pr
 oposal](https://hasgeek.com/anthillinside/ai-and-risk-mitigation/) to sugg
est a topic you’d like to discuss. This should involve a brief outline o
f the use cases and challenges regarding AI implementation.\n2. Moderate/d
iscuss a topic someone else is proposing.\n3. Spread the word among collea
gues and friends.\n4. Join The Fifth Elephant [Telegram group](https://t.m
 e/fifthel) or [WhatsApp group](https://chat.whatsapp.com/KJPmJsMC0MO7r1v9c
RdZfu).\n\n### Contact Information\nFollow us on Twitter at [@anthillin](h
