“Premature optimization is the root cause of all evil”- Donald Knuth
Data literacy is very low in India and I feel one of the reasons lies in how we treat mathematics in our society.
Often people who don’t like mathematics blame the subject of mathematics or themselves or the messengers of mathematics(i.e. their teachers). In this presentation we will address all three aspects and take time to play with some of the mathematical ideas that have been around for a very very long time.
Although this talk in not focused on data analysis or visualization, I feel it is an essential precursor for data literacy and in integrating data into our daily lives.
The essence of high school mathematics
Visual Exploration of mathematical ideas
Ways to deal with mundane tasks
Adults who were not able to appreciate mathematics,
Parents of high school kids
